Because the trim itself has deteriorated, simply cleaning it will not restore its appearance. To restore and maintain a rich blackness, a specialised coating may be used.
Clean first

Wash with car shampoo to remove all oil, wax, and dirt. Rinse thoroughly and dry carefully.
Apply coating agent to sponge.
