Generally, 1-stage paints are 35-40 microns thick, and the clear coat of 2-stage paints is around 30-40 microns. Liquid Compound #9800 uses abrasive particles of around 0.5 microns, so it is not realistic to polish through the paints. However, if the paint is damaged or deteriorated, vigorous polishing may cause it to flake off.
